I
saw this game online, and thought that the kids would love coloring the
pictures (Autumn and Spring is what I printed off).
I thought about how to incoporate this into one of the studies.
I thought about Solomon building the temple for YHWH, and how he had to
get all the materials together, and then put each of the materials for
the temple in the right spot so that it would be a great house for YHWH.
As the children color the printed pages, and then glue the pages onto
some card stock, construction paper, thin cardboard, or whatever yall
think is good, then cut out the dominoes in order to play the game,
they can be reminded of the differernt things that King Solomon had to
do in order to construct the temple, as they are constructing the
dominoe game.
Who did Solomon talk to in order to get the wood?
How did the wood get to King Solomon and his people?
Who was telling the workers what wood or other materials went where?
And other questions that pertain to the story for this lesson.
Dominoes: First:
Print out each of the dominoe pages below. Second:
Color all the pictures. Each of the same picture can be a
different color if you like. Third:
Paste each page on a piece of construction paper. Fourth:
Cut out each of the dominoes on the dotted line. Fifth:
Play using the directions below. Don't look at the pictures being
different colors, match up the picture themselves. Example:
crowns go with crowns (no matter what color); kings go with kings (no
matter what color); etc...
Directions:
1. Shuffle/mix up dominos
and place them all face down on the table. 2. For a two player game,
each player should draw 4 dominos at random, for a game with more
players, each player should draw 3 dominos. Don't let the other
players see your dominos. 3. The youngest player
should go first by laying any domino on the table. In the typical game
you'd lay a double (one with the same image in both squares, but this
is optional in the easy version -- I find it a tough rule to explain to
the little ones and usually results in my having to look at their cards) 4. player two tries to
lay a domino on the table with an image that matches what's already
there. If you cannot go, pick a domino from the pile and miss your turn. 5. continue taking turns
laying dominos or picking from the pile until someone wins:
to win:
- get rid of all the dominos in your
hand OR - if no one can go, then the person
with the least dominos in their hand is the winner
